Reading "Positive Ecology" by Gerald Schmidt

"One has to navigate carefully between the eco-pessimism of much environmentalism, and the eco-optimism of anti-environmentalism.  I have found it particularly troublesome to explain the middle path I have been looking for:  In seeking for synergies between ecological sustainability and what makes up a "good life" for the individual, and development/progress for humanity, every position finds points it has been arguing with."

Schmidt, G., 2005. Positive ecology: sustainability and the “good life”, Ashgate studies in environmental policy and practice. Ashgate, Aldershot.
